Bursting full of humor, this encyclopedia is wonderfully written and very entertaining! Its main feature is the fact that it is written in an "in-universe" format, meaning written in the words of the respective characters. For example, fans of the show will get a kick out of hearing Optimus Prime complain about a jerk character in the series, Sentinel Prime. Additional information and trivia are helpfully provided it color-coded borders within the text to separate them from the in-universe commentary.
Another remarkable thing about this book is how detailed it is. There is a lot of information provided about the Transformers Animated universe that has never been seen in the cartoon or in any other source! Rather than falling to the trap of basically repeating the same stuff found in the original source, the Almanac adds a whole load of trivia that makes it a real gem for collectors and fans. It helps that the main character designer of the cartoon series was a consultant of this project.We also get exclusive behind the scenes look at how the show was produced and how the characters came into being from preliminary designs.
Finally the art that embraces the pages is excellent. Instead of merely using stock pictures, the book provides a lot of other illustrations of characters never seen before (such as the insides of Megatron's cockpit). Overall, this is a FANTASTIC set, and I'll be honest in saying that I truly did not expect to be so highly entertained. Extremely highly recommended!

This is perfect for an avid Transformers fan or someone just starting out. The pictures are great and the entire book is a fun read! As a avid Transformers fan myself this was a must have! I can't wait for the next volume to come out!! I was really upset when Cartoon network/hasbro/whoever canceled the show. It was really taking off and was one of best incarnations of Transformers I've seen so far!! It really needed a few more seasons to truly blossom! But this book will have to do until someone gets their head on straight and gets the show up and running again!
Amazon is amazing for carrying this product! I tried looking everywhere for this but Amazon was the only place that had it at a reasonable price! It shipped at lightning speed and got here well packed and in perfect condition! I couldn't be happier with my whole experience!

The team outdid themselves with this product, no questions asked. The amount of details and information is worth every penny a customer can put into this book!
If you are an artist - GET THIS BOOK! It has season 1 & 2 characters (and I mean all of them)with references front and back for both robot and vehicle modes. Even the main characters' original Cybertronian forms are displayed! It has all of the human characters to include extras, backgrounds of the different settings, episode guides, Cybertronian measurements and MORE!
And even if you are not an artist, but just a fan - absolutely worth it. If you are one that enjoys watching commentaries on DVD's, then get this book. Most of the book is in character to the characters to the show, very easy to follow, and just needs to part of your collection.
I eagerly await for a supplement to this for season 3!

The Allspark Almanac is an essential companion for fans of Transformers Animated, regardless of age. Featuring animation models, episode recaps from the POV of the characters, and bios for every major character from the first two seasons, it's packed with trivia and information on the development of the series and the unique spin on the Transformers mythology for another generation. The book is presented in a way that will be interesting to adult readers while still very accessible to younger audiences. A great balancing act that Sorenson and Forster pull off very well.
If there's one flaw with this book, it is that it stops at the end of the second season! I eagerly hope that we'll see an Allspark Almanac Volume Two in the future to complete the series, perhaps featuring more of the behind the scenes design work.
